Players of the Week

Offense – Billy Amick, 1B/3B Binghamton

Billy Amick has mashed since coming over in the A.J. Minter trade, recording seven home runs in 12 games with Binghamton. He now has 30 homers on the year, by far the most of anyone in the Mets organization. Ryan Clifford, who fits a similar mold to Amick, has struggled more than anyone could have predicted this year, opening the way for Amick to separate himself in Syracuse.

Pitching – Jose Chirinos, P Brooklyn

Jose Chirinos is not yet one of the Mets’ top pitching prospects, but he could certainly be in that conversation next year. Chirinos dominated Low-A ball and has been great lately in High-A. He struggled initially after his promotion, but he now has a 2.73 ERA in his last six starts. The 21-year-old has a 3.38 ERA this year after recording a 3.01 ERA las tyear.
