Mets Minors Recap: Billy Amick, Émilien Pitre Shine in Double-A Friday

Friday saw losses across the Mets organization.

The only club to secure a win was the DSL Mets Orange, who shut out DSL Marlins 3-0. The remaining teams all took losses, including the Syracuse Mets registering two losses due to their Thursday game being postponed.

Double-A, however, saw two newer Mets have strong games. Émilien Pitre went 2-for-3 with a walk, and Billy Amick drove in two runs and went 2-for-4.

Syracuse and Jacksonville picked up their game from Friday after it was suspended Thursday. The Jumbo Shrimp added one more run in the seventh via a Johnny Olmstead sacrifice fly to secure a 4-2 Jacksonville win.

RHP Dan Hammer (2.56 ERA) – 2.0 IP, 2 K

Dan Hammer continued his strong play in Triple-A Friday. He relieved Brian Metoyer and provided Syracuse with two scoreless innings.

The Mets went with a bullpen game in Game 2 against the Jumbo Shrimp, throwing five arms to piece together nine innings. Notably, Matt Seelinger threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings while punching out two batters.

The Rumble Ponies were routed by the Sea Dogs 10-3 Friday night. Starter Noah Hall had his worst start of the season, allowing eight earned runs on 11 hits in only 3 2/3 innings pitched. Mitch Voit recorded another base hit, but went 1-for-5.

Brooklyn lost a nail-biter at home to the Phillies Single-A affiliate, the Jersey Shore BlueClaws. Both sides were held to two hits, but Jersey scored twice on a fielder’s choice and a throwing error by Ronald Hernandez. Antonio Jimenez tripled with one out in the eighth, but the Cyclones couldn’t push him home to tie the game.

St. Lucie was another Mets farm team to lose by a run Friday night. Jupiter scored three runs in the first two innings, which included a Cam Kozeal solo shot to leadoff the game. The Mets scored their two runs via a two-run homer by Dylan Carey in the seventh. Elian Peña was left out of the starting lineup Friday, but went 0-for-1 when he pinch hit for Kooper Schulte in the ninth.
