The New York Mets have placed Jorge Polanco on the injured list with left ankle bursitis. Polanco has played in 37 games and has not looked right or healthy for any of them slashing .148/.201/.230/.431. Manager Andy Green said Polanco is leaning towards surgery on his ankle.
In the meantime, the Mets have called Eric Wagaman back up to replace Polanco. Wagaman has looked great in Syracuse slashing .333/.409/.547/.956.
The Mets also optioned Jack Weisenburger and called Chayce McDermott back to the majors. Putting Polanco on the injured list allowed them to call up McDermott as a fresh arm even though he has not been in the minors for 15 days since his option.
