Good morning, Mets fans!
On Monday night, the Mets took the opening game of their series with the Padres 2-1 at home. Although the game finished with a modest score, the first two innings were some of the most exhilarating of the season. Two Carson Benge outfield assists, including a 103.9 mph laser beam, helped Nolan McLean escape trouble. A.J. Ewing also did his part, adding yet another outfield assist.
The Mets will resume action on Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. ET, with Zac Thornton taking the mound. The team will look to keep the good times rolling, as they are 10-3 since the trade deadline. They’ve won four straight to improve to 57-69, a still-distant 10 games out of a Wild Card spot.

On Monday, the Syracuse Mets announced that slugger Billy Amick was promoted to the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate.
Amick was acquired from the Minnesota Twins as part of the A.J. Minter trade on July 31, and has not stopped hitting since. In his 12 Double-A games for Binghamton, Amick hit seven home runs while slashing .304/.396/.783, a torrid pace for a player with next-level power.
Amick will be a name to watch in Triple-A, as a promotion to the big leagues for the 23-year-old could be closer than many thought before the trading deadline.
