The Brooklyn and Syracuse offenses shoved today but the biggest excitement was the 9th inning walk off by the Rumble Ponies. Mitch Voit started off the rally getting hit by a pitch while Jefferson Rojas hit a double to tie the game and Chris Suero walked it off with a sacrifice fly. The Mets minor league system has truly been exciting since the trade deadline.

Triple-A

Syracuse (60-60) 5, Worcester (62-54) 1

Box Score

Ronny Mauricio was the big hitter. He drove in runs, crushed a homer, walked, and even stole a base. Émilien Pitre started his Triple-A debut off with a bang getting two hits including double a while Billy Amick’s first hit in Triple-A was a double.

Xzavion Curry carried over his major league success by throwing five scoreless innings. None of his pitches grade out particularly well and he does not generate much swing and miss, but he located his pitches very well generating weak contact.

Tobias Myers has shown off much better velocity as of late and his stuff graded the best it has in a while. This led him to generate a 38.9% chase rate and 26.7% whiff rate. His fastball came in at an incredible 20.4 inches of induced vertical break while his splitter looked the best it has since he was sent down to the minors.

Double-A

Binghamton (50-65) 4, Altoona (49-65) 3

Box Score

Mitch Voit seems incapable of having a hitless game, but the real star of the Mets offense was Jefferson Rojas who crushed a 107 mile per hour home run more than 400 feet. His big hit came in the bottom of the ninth when he drove in the tying run on a double. The winning run was driven in by a Chris Suero sacrifice fly. One name to take note of is Marco Vargas who has been on fire since returning from the injured list, had three hits bringing his season OPS over .700.

  • RHP Gary Gill Hill: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 8 K
  • LHP Felipe De La Cruz: 1.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
  • RHP Carlos Guzman: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
  • RHP Bryce Jenkins: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K (W)

Gary Gill Hill threw one bad pitch but looked great otherwise striking out eight across six innings. He utilizes a deep pitch mix to get ahead on hitters and this game he had his put away stuff working.

High-A

Brooklyn Cyclones (50-63) 9, Asheville (39-74) 1

Box Score

John Spikerman hit his first home run of the season and then quickly followed it up with hitting his second home run. Aidan Smith had an exciting game stealing four bases including home, while Trey Snyder and Antonio Jimenez both had multi-hit games. Elian Peña did not get a hit, but he was on base twice with walks.

Nicolas Carreno has looked great in August and has yet to allow an earned run this month. He has pitched into the sixth inning in three of his last four starts. The remainder of the pitching did their job helping bring a win to Brooklyn.

Single-A

Lakeland (54-58) 10, St. Lucie (50-64) 1

Box Score

Jack Toomey had a single and walk in his pro debut. Robbins walked twice and has an .835 OPS on the season.

Justin Hagenman made his first rehab appearance of the season and while his velocity was down a tick, he looked good over his 2.1 innings of work. He ran a 47.4% whiff rate and his pitch movement looked good. Unfortunately, the rest of the pitching did not fare as well.

DSL Mets Orange

DSL Colorado (36-18) 9, DSL Mets Orange (29-27) 1

Box Score

Without Asigen or Ramirez in the lineup the DSL Mets Orange lineup struggled to get on base or score runs. Frank Moreno did get a triple and was driven in by Michalle Mercedes but that was it for the scoring.

The pitching struggled heavily requiring six pitchers to get through eight innings and giving up nine runs. They struggled to find the zone walking eleven.

DSL Mets Blue

DSL NYY Bombers (25-29) 6, DSL Mets Blue (20-36) 2

Box Score

The offense was largely silent amassing only two runs on four hits and five walks with the majority of the lineup failing to find their way on base.

Eduardo Pina pitched a great three innings to start the game walking none and striking out four but the same can not be said for Johnny Osoria and Emmanuel Felix who allowed six runs to score in their four innings of work.
