Despite Carlos Mendoza‘s comments Tuesday saying that Kodai Senga wouldn’t be ready for Grapefruit League games, Senga says he’s ready to pitch in real games. With Sean Manaea likely starting the season on the injured list, Senga will slot in as the team’s ace. He’ll aim to deliver a fully healthy season after only making one regular-season appearance in 2024.

The Mets lost to the Marlins 4-1 on Wednesday in spring training. New York was no-hit through four innings until Luis Torrens lined a single to right in the fifth. Additionally, starting pitcher Paul Blackburn impressed in his one inning of work, retiring all three batters he faced.

2011: Former Brooklyn Dodger and Met Duke Snider passes away. A two-time World Series winner, Snider was one of New York’s brightest stars in his time with Brooklyn. He joined the Mets near the tail end of his career, earning his eighth and final All-Star selection with the Metropolitans.
