Good morning, Mets fans!
The Dodgers are headed back to New York for the second straight series — but, this time, it’s against the Yankees.
Also different about this series is that L.A. has a 2-0 lead, as opposed to when it split its first two games with the Mets. NLCS MVP Tommy Edman, Teoscar Hernández and Freddie Freeman all homered for the Dodgers in a 4-2 win on Saturday. It was Freeman’s fourth consecutive World Series game with a homer, tying with Lou Gehrig and Reggie Jackson for the second-most all-time, per MLB Stats. George Springer owns the longest such streak at five.
Shohei Ohtani left the game early for the Dodgers, though, after suffering an injury while getting caught trying to steal second base. The FOX broadcast reported that it’s a left shoulder injury, and that Ohtani could be heard saying his shoulder popped out.
There’s no baseball today as the teams fly back across the country. The World Series will resume on Monday at 8:08 p.m. ET.
