Game Preview: Diamondbacks at Mets – Game 1
Tonight is my last Game Preview/Write-Up for probably close to two weeks. I’ll be heading out to California for my honeymoon early tomorrow morning. We’ll get to see at least 2 Mets games out in San Diego on Friday & Saturday (7th and 8th). Enough about me, let’s talk about tonight’s game! You know, my biggest fear for tonight’s game is that maybe the Mets have been playing so well because they were trying to [...]

Cross Washburn Off Your List
Was Jarrod Washburn on your wish list of cheap players the Mets could or should have gotten today? If so, cross him off. According to ESPN.com, he has been traded to the Detroit Tigers for 23 year old left handed starter Luke French, and pitching prospect Mauricio Robles. At 34 years old, Washburn is having a career year for the Mariners posting an 8-6 record with a 2.64 ERA paired nicely with a 1.07 WHIP.

My Mets Wish For The Trade Deadline
Today is one of the biggest days of the regular baseball season for baseball junkies like me; the trade deadline. I always enjoyed this time of the season because it had that hot stove feel to it. But now, with the advent of social networking sites like Twitter, I have a non-stop stream of information and unfortunately misinformation too depending on your take of it. I used to enjoy sifting through all these little nuggets of [...]

In Defense Of The Mets Wild Card Chances
The Mets lost the second game of the day-night doubleheader last night by the final score of 4-2, preventing them from completing a four-game sweep over the Colorado Rockies. Despite the loss, they still took three out of four games in the series, which was crucial as the Rockies are one of the teams the Mets are pursuing for the National League Wild Card berth. Even though they recently won five straight, some people remain [...]

How Five Games Change Almost Everything
Six games ago, the Mets basically seemed dead. We dropped series to the Braves and the Nationals among others and it just seemed like any hope we had on the season was quickly leaving our grasps like how sand leaves fingers. Well the Mets had a response with a five game winning streak with very few starters left on the roster. Suddenly, before last night, the Mets went from 7 games below .500 to 2 [...]

Mets Lose Nightcap 4-2, Snap Five Game Win Streak
The Mets lost the second game of the doubleheader tonight. The Rockies broke their own 27 inning drought winning the game 4-2. Jon Niese didn’t bring his best stuff to Citi Field tonight. He barely survived 6.1 innings, giving up 8 hits, 4 walks, and 4 runs including a two run homer. The damage could have been a lot worse but Niese executed some big pitches when he absolutely needed an out. David Wright continued his [...]

Mets Turn Down Victor Martinez Deal
Jon Heyman of SI.com just said on SNY that he believes that the Mets have turned down an offer from the Indians for All Star catcher Victor Martinez. The 30 year old Martinez, has been rumored to be on the trading block all month and if this is true I would be very interested in knowing why and who the other players in the deal were. I’m actually quite surprised that Omar would turn down the opportunity [...]

Game Preview: Rockies at Mets – Game 4
On my drive home from work today I heard Evan Roberts (Mets fan) say that he believes this is a mediocre team that is just hot right now. Well, Mr. Roberts, this is a team with at least 4 starting players that belong in backup roles, and are merely 2 games shy of the elusive .500 mark. The wild card leading Colorado Rockies came into town, and our mediocre Mets are just one game from [...]
