Francisco Alvarez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored Sunday in Triple-A Syracuse’s 4-3 victory over Scranton. He also picked off a runner at first and allowed a passed ball. Carlos Mendoza said he could return to the big-league team during the six-game homestand that starts Tuesday. Alvarez has gone 3-for-13 with a double, four strikeouts and one walk in four games at Syracuse. He left a game on May 12 after feeling pain in his right knee after a swing and underwent surgery to repair a meniscus tear two days later.
