Thoughts on the Offseason…..

The Mets, right now, are in a holding pattern. Nothing has happened. Nothing. If something had happened, I’d be writing about that instead. So, as a little treat, I have compiled my thoughts of this off season and hopefully, you will find it funny. -I’m really gonna miss Lastings Milledge and Paul Lo Duca. It seems like if you argue with an umpire and actually show some passion, then you’re gonna get kicked off the [...]

Weighing In On The Report, And Then Some

After taking some time to sift through the enormous amount of data in the Mitchell Report, I wanted to weigh in on it from a Mets fan’s perspective and also from a baseball fan’s point of view. From what I could see after sorting through the list of players, I was happy to find that there were no current Mets. (Whew) Learning that Paul Lo Duca was named in the report was a real shock for me, [...]

The Mets Are In It For The Now

With the Christmas holiday mere days away, the Mets remain without the frontline starting pitcher they so desperately require. Frustration is beginning to sink deep within all of the Amazin’s faithful followers. Without a defined ace toeing the rubber, or one who has the potential to become just that, the Mets outlook for 2008 is looking gloomier as each day passes. Omar Minaya has seemingly begun a personal caravan the last three weeks to publicly [...]

Wednesday’s Hot Stove Roundup

Today was kind of a busy day for some teams as the rest of MLB brace themselves for the Mitchell Report which is expected to be released sometime tomorrow. I found it very ironic that the Orioles finally traded Miguel Tejada on the eve of the report’s release date. Tejada’s name has been mentioned on more than one occasion in connection with banned substances. Today he was traded to the Houston Astros for a boatload [...]

Big House Baseball League All –Stars

During my daily boredom induced web surfing, I came across yet another reason why being a Mets fan can sometimes be painful. As we all know, Michael Vick has just been sentenced to 23 months in prison. In “celebration” of that, Sports Illustrated (si.com) has put together a photo gallery of famous athletes who have gone to jail. Lo and behold, 2 of the top five are …you guessed it…METS!!! The first one listed is [...]

Lo Duca Joins Milledge In D.C. And Look Forward To Some Payback Against The Mets

Earlier today, the Washington Post reported that Paul Lo Duca had agreed to a one-year contract with the Washington Nationals for the 2008 season. Terms were not immediately available, though Lo Duca was thought to be seeking $5 million. The deal is pending Lo Duca passing a physical, a source said. Lo Duca, 35, played the past two seasons with the New York Mets. A .288 career hitter and four-time all-star, he played previously for [...]

My Two Mets Christmas Wishes

I don’t believe there will ever be another baseball setting that will ever conjure up the feelings and emotions that build up inside me whenever I walked through the turnstiles at Shea Stadium. For the longest time I used to save my half of the ticket stub that was returned to me by the ticket attendant. To me it was going to be a special day whether the Mets won or lost. I used to [...]

Matt Cain Or Tim Lincecum, Might Do The Trick For The Mets

On the last day of the Winter Meetings, word spread that before the Mets traded Lastings Milledge to the Nationals, he was involved in another potential trade with the Giants for Noah Lowry. David Lennon of Newsday, wrote the following… Another interesting development from late in the winter meetings was the revelation that the Mets talked to the Giants last month about acquiring lefthander Noah Lowry, according to a person familiar with the situation. San [...]

Billy Wagner May Be Right

In a recent interview, Billy Wagner said that he thought the Mets were, at best, a third place team. With the Winter Meetings here and gone, and only the loss of Lastings Milledge to report, he may be right. The thing I don’t quite understand about the Milledge trade is why we couldn’t package him along with a couple other prospects, send him to Oakland, and get Dan Haren or Joe Blanton. Billy Beane may [...]

Winter Meetings Finally Over, We Can All Exhale Now

What a bummer. You wait all off season for the Winter Meetings to begin… you build up all this energy and excitement… and then what do you get? Nothing… Zero… Nada… In the meantime, we were bombarded with one outlandish rumor after another which were composed of 10% truth and 90% cow dung. For almost four days major league GM’s huddled in Nashville and after all was said and done we got one blockbuster trade [...]
