First Week. First Impressions?
I know it’s only one week into this season. We still have 25 more to go. I am in no way giving up on the 2010 Mets. That being said I am feeling pretty pessimistic right now. Am I the only one? As we Mets fans always do, we hope for the best but somewhat prepare for the worst. Safe to say that after an unproductive off-season, the majority of us do not expect a [...]

A Rotation Only Omar Could Love
I asked this question the other day while on Twitter, with Jenrry Mejia in the bullpen, Nelson Figueroa in Philly, and no major league ready pitching prospects on call, who would be the Mets’ first choice to replace an injured or under-performing starter? Kelvim Escobar, Hisanori Takahashi and Fernando Nieve were the most popular answers I received. Unfortunately, Escobar may not comeback from his injury and even if he did, he signed on as a reliever, and [...]

Sean Green To DL, Raul Valdes Could Get Call
According to Adam Rubin of ESPN NY, the Mets are planning to make a couple of moves in time for Sundays finale against the Nationals. Left-hander Raul Valdes, a Cuban defector who impressed manager Jerry Manuel during spring training, is believed to be headed to Citi Field for the series finale against the Washington Nationals, sources told ESPNNewYork. The corresponding move is expected to be placing right-hander Sean Green on the disabled list. According to [...]

Willie Harris Snatches Victory From Mets; Fall To Nats 4-3
The Mets lose their first heart-breaker of the season today, falling to the Nationals 4-3 in gut-wrenching style courtesy of yet another Willie Harris game saving catch. Ugh.. Game Notes Oliver Perez was good.. no, he was bad… no, he was just plain ole’ Ollie. He pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed 4 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks. Perez retired the side in order in the first, third and fifth, but got in [...]

Updated Post 12:20 pm Here is some additional information regarding the recent demotion of Ruben Tejada. According to a Mets Press release, Tejada will be playing shortstop today for the Bisons and will also get some work in at second base as the Mets try to make him more versatile. At 20 years and 165 days old, Tejada will be the youngest player to appear in a game for the Bisons in almost 17 years. In [...]

Ike Davis Will Be Here Sooner Rather Than Later
Last night I had the pleasure of watching the game while chilling out with my pals on Twitter. It was actually the second time I ever did that since registering our site with Twitter about a year ago. It’s actually a pretty cool experience and it’s almost like hanging out in your living room with a bunch of friends watching the game on your HDTV, except none of them were there physically, so no mess [...]

It’s Official, Jose Reyes To Bat Leadoff On Saturday
Updated Post 4:40 pm Jerry Manuel just announced that Jose Reyes will be in the lineup and batting leadoff tomorrow. Manuel also said it will not take long for Reyes to return to being the impact player he can be and the catalyst the Mets need right now. Original Post 12:00 pm Jose Reyes is back in New York and will be working out with his teammates when they take the field for practice later today. [...]

How Long Before We Start To Worry?
I know, I know. Its only been three games. And while the Season Opener was nothing short of “amazin”, and the team did show signs of fight (and patience) in game two, I can’t help but revert back to feelings of concern and panic after last night’s loss. The optimists will tell me to calm down, that, “Its only been a week!” But pretty soon, it will “only be a month”. And then, it will “only be [...]

John Maine and His Decaying Arm
The title may have been a little bit misleading, but its honestly how i feel. When the Mets first received Maine in the trade for Anna, i mean..Kris Benson we received a hard-throwing prospect with the potential to be a #3 starter with the refining of a slider. His rising fastball, providing hope to anyone who watched it crash into the catchers mitt routinely around 95-96 MPH. Those days are long gone, my friends. Since [...]

Fun At The Phillies Expense
As Mets fans, we don’t get moments like this very often, so in those rare instances when the Phillies make headlines for all the wrong reasons, you really have to relish them. To begin, we already know what a big mouth Jimmy Rollins has, but get a load of what he said while a guest on the Dan Patrick Show. Patrick asked Rollins why the Phillies didn’t elect to keep Cliff Lee. (A loaded question?) “That, [...]
