Robert Carson’s final outing of the regular season was a good, but short one, he gave up a run on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. Edgar Ramirez gave up a run on a hit and 2 walks in 2.2 innings for his 6th win of the season, and Roy Merritt picked up a 2 out save.

The Mets offense had 5 hits and a 4/12 BB/K ratio, while going 1 for 2 with RISP and leaving 6 on base. Jose Coronado (0 for 4, 2 Ks), Josh Satin and Raul Reyes (0 for 4, K, .236) took 0-fers.

Carson got absolutely lit up by a comebacker to his pitching arm (shoulder area I think). This ball was screamin’ when it him. He fell to the ground and rolled over and around multiple times while the staff came out. He walked off fine, but that definitely doesn’t mean his arm is OK of course.

The Mets put up 8 runs in a 3 inning span, then cruised to a 6 inning 8 to 2 victory. Stefan Welch, who had endured a 2 1/2 month tailspin, is ending his season with a bang, he’s 8 for his last 13 with 2 doubles and 3 triples, and 7 RBI. He, Wilmer Flores and Kai Gronauer had multi hit games, while Michael Fisher (0 for 4, K, .276) and Rafael Fernandez took 0-fers. Jim Fuller gave up 2 runs in 5 innings to pick up the win. The Mets were 6 for 13 (.462) with RISP and left 6 on base.
