The Mets announced Zach Lutz will have surgery on the hamate bone in his left wrist.
Lutz, 26, will have his surgery performed by Mets Hand Specialist Dr. Andrew Weiland at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.
The right-handed hitting corner infielder broke his hamate bone while with Triple-A Buffalo and missed 49 games while on the disabled list earlier this season.
Originally drafted by the Mets in the 5th round of the 2007 Draft, Lutz batted .295 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI in 254 at-bats over 78 games between Single-A St. Lucie and Triple-A Buffalo this season.
In seven games since being called up in September, Lutz was 1-for-11 with five strikeouts.
