Billy Amick hit his first Triple-A home run in a Syracuse victory, Kevin Parada continued his hot August in a Binghamton loss, John Smith III hit his first Brooklyn homer in their loss and Boston Baro had a hit in his rehab assignment in a St. Lucie loss.

Triple-A

Syracuse Mets (61-61) 5, Worcester Red Sox (63-55) 0

Box Score

  • LF Nick Morabito – 1-for-4, 1 R, SB (4), 1 BB (.748 OPS)
  • 3B Billy Amick – 1-for-4, 1 R, HR (1), 1 RBI (2), 2 K (.731 OPS)
  • 2B Émilien Pitre1-for-3, 1 R, 1 BB (.641 OPS)
  • DH Nick Lorusso – 0-for-2, 2 SB (2) (.804 OPS)

Morabito hit a milestone, stealing at least 40 bases for the third consecutive season. Ryan Clifford was placed on the development list after his recent struggles. Amick continues to hit home runs at a prodigious pace.

In a bullpen game, Syracuse struck out 12 batters and only allowed four hits, none for extra bases.

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (51-66) 5, Altoona Cuve (50-66) 7

Box Score

  • SS Jefferson Rojas – 1-for-4, 2B, 1 K (.822 OPS)
  • CF Chris Suero – 1-for-4, 2 K (.771 OPS)
  • C Kevin Parada – 2-for-4, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI (22)(.631 OPS)

The Ponies turned six hits into five runs. John Bay, who has been having an outstanding season, had a bit of a rough day at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three strikeouts.

  • RHP Noah Hall (7.40 ERA) 6 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 HR allowed (53 of 78 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Brendan Girton (6.87 ERA) 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB

Hall had a very uneven outing, allowing runs in three of the six innings he pitched. While his strikeout numbers have been strong in Double-A, he is allowing over a hit an inning, including five home runs in 20 innings.

High-A

Brooklyn Cyclones (50-65) 6, Asheville Tourists  (41-74) 13

Box Score

  • CF Trey Snyder – 1-for-3, 1 R, HR (2), 3 RBI (14), 1 K (.651 OPS)
  • SS Sammy Stafura – 0-for-4, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K (.931 OPS)
  • CF Aidan Smith0-for-4, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K (.755 OPS)
  • LF John Smith III – 1-for-3, 1 R, HR (1), 1 RBI (1) (1.667 OPS)

The Cyclones’ offense was clicking, but some poor pitching put the game out of reach quickly. Antonio Jimenez has struggled recently, going 0-for-3 with three strikeouts and a walk on Thursday.

  • RHP Joel Díaz (6.86 ERA) 3 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 HR allowed
  • RHP Ryan Dollar (2.79 ERA) 1 IP, 1 K

Díaz just has not taken the step forward that many hoped he would, with many short outings and not much dominance for someone with his arsenal of pitches. Dollar has had a solid season, striking out 56 batters in 42 innings.

Single-A

Lakeland Flying Tigers (56-58) 6, St. Lucie Mets (50-66) 2

Box Score

  • CF Aiden Robbins –  0-for-5, 2 K (.744 OPS)
  • SS Boston Baro – 1-for-2, SB (1) (1.000 OPS)
  • 3B Vladi Gomez – 1-for-4, 2B, 1 R, 1 K (.636 OPS)

St. Lucie only had four hits, but they did walk seven times. Yovanny Rodriguez, after a scorching hot July, has fallen back to earth, slashing .167/.244/.194 in August.

  • RHP Nathan Hall (5.79 ERA) 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K (23 of 38 pitches for strikes)

Hall had a good, albeit brief outing. RHP Austin Brown allowed four unearned runs in his outing.
