The White Sox beat the Mets with a game-ending homer for the second time in three days Sunday when Tristan Peters connected off of Kodai Senga (0-9) for a 2-1 win. The 406-foot shot to center caught a piece of A.J. Ewing‘s glove as he leapt at the wall. Senga was pitching on back-to-back days for the first time in his career.
The Mets (59-72) have lost seven times this year by walk-off. MMO’s Johnluke Chaparro has more here.
Nolan McLean allowed one hit over six scoreless innings. He struck out six and walked four. It was the 17th time in 26 starts that the 25-year-old lasted at least six innings. The rest of the Met starters have done that 26 times in 105 tries.
Francisco Lindor and Carson Benge both went 2-for-4 with a double and Jared Young tied the game with a ninth-inning RBI single.
The Mets are off Monday. They start a six-game homestand (Brewers and Astros) Tuesday with Zac Thornton (3-4, 3.04 ERA) on the mound against Milwaukee LHP Kyle Harrison (10-3, 2.84 ERA).

Jefferson Rojas homered and Mitch Voit had two hits, including a two-run single, in Double-A Binghamton’s 7-3 victory Sunday over Altoona. The Rumble Ponies are 18-3 in August. Rojas has hit four homers in 16 games with Binghamton. The 21-year-old from the Dominican Republic hit 15 homers at Double-A Knoxville before the Mets acquired him from the Cubs in the trade for Clay Holmes and Tyrone Taylor.
High-A Brooklyn scored double-digit runs for the third consecutive game Sunday, pounding Asheville pitching in a 12-1 rout. Sammy Stafura (Luke Weaver trade) went 3-for-6 and Yonatan Henriquez homered to make it four in his last four games. Brooklyn scored 43 runs total in the three wins.

MLB announced that the Little League Classic will be back in 2027 with the Cubs facing the Blue Jays on Aug. 19. The game will air on ESPN and Canada’s TSN.
Jarred Kelenic was designated for assignment by the Rangers after going 4-for-20 over 17 games.
The Yankees placed LHP Ryan Weathers on the 15-day injured list with a left forearm flexor strain. He will not throw for two to four weeks, but hopes to return before the end of the season.

2015: In his first at-bat since April, David Wright, who was on the disabled list with back problems, homers. The Mets take Wright’s cue and smash eight long balls and 14 extra-base hits to set team records in a 16-7 win over the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Wilmer Flores homers twice and Yoenis Céspedes, Juan Lagares, Travis d’Arnaud, Daniel Murphy and Michael Cuddyer also go deep.
2005: Rookie first baseman Mike Jacobs homers twice in an 18-4 victory over Arizona and becomes the first player in MLB history to homer four times in his first four games. He is also one of five Mets to homer in his first at-bat. The others are Brett Baty, Kazuo Matsui, Mike Fitzgerald and Benny Ayala.

Candy Maldonado hits a three-run homer off of Rick Aguilera in the first inning of a 10-1 Giants win at Candlestick Park. Aguilera allows six earned runs over six innings and takes the loss, which drops his record to 6-6. Wally Backman, who wore No. 6, goes 0-for-4. The Mets are 82-42.
