Nolan McLean has won the Gold Glove Award for National League pitchers. He beat out the Cardinals’ Michael McGreevy and the Braves’ Chris Sale for the honors. McLean is the first Met to win a Gold Glove since Juan Lagares in 2014.

A former shortstop, McLean dazzled defensively, posting +4 DRS, which tied for the second-most among qualified pitchers, narrowly trailing McGreevy. He also posted a range factor per nine innings of 2.00, and his 1.29 range factor per game was even with McGreevy’s. McLean also excelled at keeping base runners at bay, allowing just six stolen bases all season.

Luis Torrens and Carson Benge were the Mets’ other Gold Glove finalists. McLean and Benge will hope to come home with some hardware, with the National League Rookie of the Year results set to be revealed on November 9.
