The New York Mets have outrighted the following players off their 40-man roster according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com:
- Cristian Pache, OF
- Eric Wagaman, INF
- Philip Abner, LHP
- Cameron Weston, RHP
These moves brings their 40-man roster to 39 ahead of Monday’s compliance deadline.
Pache got in 15 games for the Mets last year. A majority of his play came for Triple-A Syracuse where he had a .645 OPS over 323 at-bats.
Wagaman had 47 at-bats with the Mets and posted a .588 OPS. The 29-year-old had an .812 OPS across 130 at-bats.
Abner only had 22 2/3 innings of major-league experience (6.75 ERA), 19 of which came with two organizations (Arizona, San Francisco) last year. He was claimed in September by the Mets.
Weston, also claimed off waivers in September, has only one major-league inning of work under his belt. He struggled in 51 1/3 innings with Norfolk (Triple-A) before allowing just one run over 6 1/3 innings with the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate following the waiver claim to end the season.
