The Mets lost their third series of the year after they were defeated Wednesday night by the San Diego Padres, 13-2. Chris Bassitt struggled in his start, allowing six earned runs in three and one-third innings pitched. Dan Quiñones has a more complete recap of last night’s game.

The Mets will face the Los Angeles Angels Friday night at 9:38 PM ET with Tylor Megill as the probable starter.

The Brooklyn Cyclones announced that on Saturday, June 25, the first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a re-Pete Alonso bobblehead commemorating his back-to-back Home Run Derby Titles. The pitch is at 6:00 PM EST and the gates open at 5:00 PM EST.

Jacob Resnick of MLB Pipeline reports that the Mets have signed veteran OF Terrance Gore to a minor league contract. He will report to the Florida complex. The 31-year-old speedster has 40 career stolen bases despite only 77 plate appearances. Gore was  on the Braves’ postseason roster in 2021.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that Adam Ottavino wants to pitch for Italy at the 2023 World Baseball Classic, provided he signs a contract with sufficient time to prepare for the tournament. Ottavino claimed that he already spoke with Mike Piazza, Italy’s manager.

Justin Courtney, a player on the Brooklyn Cyclones who resembles a young Nolan Ryan, landed a role portraying The Ryan Express in a new documentary called “Facing Nolan.” Gerard Gilberto of Milb.com has more on the story.
