Edwin Díaz. Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, Mets fans!

Buck Showalter told the media on Friday that Edwin Díaz will travel to Port St. Lucie on Monday to throw a 20-pitch bullpen session. Díaz’s rehab since tearing his patellar tendon during the World Baseball Classic has gone well, and this is the next step toward pitching in a real game. Díaz has maintained all year that he wants to pitch this season, and while that may be tough with just 15 games to go, the possibility of him even being close is a great sight to see for Mets fans.
