The fourth place Detroit Tigers are still in rebuild mode and the team is open to trading veterans according to Jon Morosi of MLB.com

Morosi noted lefty starter Matthew Boyd and closer Shane Greene as the two big pieces that teams will certainly ask about. Outfielder Nicholas Castellanos is a clear trade piece given he will be a free agent after the season.

Boyd, 28, is in the midst of a career-year with a 3.08 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 3.3 bWAR, and a league best 7.00 SO/W. The former Blue Jay is under team control through the 2022 season.

Greene has been one of baseball’s best relievers in 2019 with league leading 20 saves, 1.00 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, and 9.7 K/9. The 30-year-old becomes a free agent after the 2020 season.

Tigers also have Josh Harrison, Gordon Beckham, Jordy Mercer, and Tyson Ross as pending free agents they will likely look to deal before the July 31 deadline.
