LHP Parker Messick vs. RHP Freddy Peralta
TBS/HBO Max

The Cleveland Guardians, down 2-0 for half the night, scored seven runs on Monday across the final four frames and beat the Tampa Bay Rays 7-3 in Game 1 of the ALCS. They survived six strong innings from the Rays’ Drew Rasmussen and will now turn to Parker Messick, the ace of their staff, to lead them to another win.

The Rays, meanwhile, will start Freddy Peralta, their midseason acquisition from the Mets. Though Peralta’s 2026 has largely been awful, he’s allowed just four runs across his last seven starts (38 2/3 innings), including one run over 4 2/3 against the Yankees in the AL Wild Card round.
