Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com reports that Michael Conforto (concussion) expects to be activated for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Tigers.
On Saturday, it was reported that Conforto was cleared to fly with the team to Los Angeles on Monday and was waiting for MLB to clear him to return from the 7-day IL.
Conforto, 26, has had a strong start to his 2019 season as he is hitting .271/.406/.521 with nine home runs and 21 RBI to give himself a 156 OPS+ and 1.9 bWAR.
The Mets could definitely use his left-handed hitting presence as the team currently only has one left-handed hitter on the team (Dominic Smith) with Brandon Nimmo (neck), Robinson Cano (quad strain), and Jeff McNeil (hamstring strain) all on the IL.
