First baseman Billy Amick‘s two-run single in Triple-A Syracuse’s 6-4 loss to Lehigh Valley on Friday gave him 101 RBIs for the season combined between Triple-A and Double-A Binghamton and Knoxville. The 23-year-old, acquired along with infielder Bruin Agbayani in a trade with the Twins for A.J. Minter, is 6-for-30 with three homers since his promotion to Syracuse.
Amick, who came in at No. 19 when MMO’s Mike Mayer updated the organization’s prospect rankings this month, has hit 33 homers in 106 games this season. The Twins selected him in the second round of the 2024 draft out of the University of Tennessee.
Catcher Yovanny Rodriguez, 19, of Venezuela, who hit seven homers in 49 Rookie Ball games for the Florida Complex League Mets, was named to the Rookie-level All-Star team. RHP Abner Meza, 19, of Mexico also earned a nod after going 5-2 with a 1.81 ERA for Mets Orange in the Dominican Summer League. Meza struck out 50 and walked 10 over 49 2/3 innings.
