The Mets DL’d Brandon Nimmo on Monday and re-called Dominic Smith from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Smith was with the team in Williamsport for the Little League Classic, but was returned to Triple-A when rosters reduced.

Smith will not burn an option as a player can be recalled within 20 days of being demoted if he is replacing a player that has been placed on the disabled list.

Smith, 22, doubled in his return to the Major Leagues last night. He had a brief stint with the Major League club earlier this season in both May and June. Smith is hitting .194/.227/.347 this season with one home run.

Smith has seen time in left field and at first base for the Mets this season. In Las Vegas, he has seen time at those two positions and in right field.

Nimmo was placed on the 10-Day Disabled List retroactive to Aug. 16.

Nimmo was hit by a baseball off his own bat in Philadelphia. Nimmo was had been hitting .340/.431/.680 in his last 15 games prior to the incident. Nimmo had raised his line to .265/.387/.503.
