Jon Heyman of FanCred Sports reported on his weekly WFAN spot that the Miami Marlins do not want trade J.T. Realmuto to another National League East team.

Both the Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves have shown serious interest in Realmuto. The 2018 All-Star catcher hit .277/.340/.484 with 30 doubles, 21 home runs and 74 RBI. He led all MLB catchers with his 4.3 bWAR and 4.8 fWAR this season.

One of the clear needs for the Mets this offseason is the catching position, with them already reportedly showing interest in free agents Wilson Ramos, Yasmani Grandal and Martin Maldonado.

It’s also been reported that the Marlins don’t think the Mets prospect pool is strong enough to acquire Realmuto.

The 27-year-old Realmuto is under contract through the 2020 season and is second year arbitration eligible this offseason.
