According to Matt Ehalt of The Record, there is “still a possibility” that Asdrubal Cabrera returns to the Mets in 2019.

Ehalt tweeted earlier today that “We’ll see if anything comes of it, but seems there is still the possibility for Asdrubal Cabrera to return to Mets.”

Cabrera was traded from the Mets to the Phillies in July of last season just before the trading deadline. He spent August and September of last season in Philadelphia in a playoff chase that came up empty handed.

Cabrera, 33, spent two and a half seasons with the Mets, making the playoffs once and hitting .279/.339/.464 from 2016 to 2018.

This report comes just hours after Brodie Van Wagenen said that he believes the Mets will continue to look to add offense, but now has no preference in terms of position and handedness.
