According to Matt Ehalt of The Record, Mets outfielder Jay Bruce will not return from the disabled list on Friday when he is eligible.

Bruce, 31, landed on the disabled list on June 19 (retroactive to June 18) with a sore right hip. However, he was battling through it for longer than that, and has also suffered through plantar fasciitis all season.

In 62 games for New York this season, Bruce has hit .212/.292/.321 with just three home runs and 17 RBI in 236 plate appearances.

He signed a three-year, $39 million deal with New York this season, and in the first year of his deal, has put up an -0.9 WAR.
