According to the New York Post, SNY has fired Mets’ analyst Nelson Figueroa. Sources told the Post that Figueroa showed up to his job on Thursday in “a state not fit to work,” and was let go on Friday morning.

The Post reports that the 45-year-old former pitcher allegedly demanded to appear on “Baseball Night in New York” Thursday, but he was no permitted to go on air.

Figueroa joined SNY as analyst in 2015, replacing Bob Ojeda on the Mets’ pregame and postgame shows. But Figueroa’s role diminished this season, as Todd Zeile took over as the network’s top analyst.

Figueroa pitched two seasons with the Mets in 2008 and 2009 as a starter and reliever.  He posted a 6-11 record with a 4.28 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 4.29 FIP. For his career, he pitched nine years and had a 4.55 ERA and a 20-35 record.
