Happy Saturday, Mets fans!

Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey, and Jeanne Melino joined the Mets’ Board of Directors on Friday, according to Justin Toscano of The Record. Melino will also take the position of Senior VP to the Amazin’ Mets Foundation. Christie later tweeted regarding his excitement to join the board.

The Mets took down the Cardinals by a score of 8-5 on Friday, on the back of a huge grand slam off the bat of Francisco Lindor. With the victory, they brought their spring training record to 8-7.

The team is off today, but will be back in action against the Nationals tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. ET.

The Mets continued extension talks with representatives of both Francisco Lindor and Michael Conforto on Friday, but neither made any movement, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. Both players have made it clear that they will not be continuing negotiations into the season.

Luis Rojas announced in a press conference on Friday that Carlos Carrasco has suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain. His timetable for return is unknown. Rojas announced in the same press conference that Dominic Smith is working his way back from a sore wrist, and may play in the simulated game occurring Saturday.

The Mets are considering signing free agent catcher Tyler Flowers to boost their catching depth, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post.

The Mets made a plethora of roster moves on Friday, optioning Yennsy Diaz, Patrick Mazeika, and Daniel Zamora to Triple-A, and reassigning Johneshwy Fargas, Jake Hager, David Rodriguez, and Wilfredo Tovar.

Emma Legault-Laroche was hired as a Player Development Associate on Friday, according to her post on LinkedIn.
