Mariners Could Swing Another Trade

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, multiple teams are showing interest in Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager. The 32-year-old is coming off a bounce back 2019 season in which he hit .239/.321/.468 with 19 doubles, 23 home runs, and 63 RBIs in 106 games.

The former All-Star was even better in the second half, when he posted a .865 OPS. Seager is under team control through the 2021 season and has a team option for the 2022 season (becomes player option with trade). Teams that miss out on Anthony Rendon (signed with Angels) and Josh Donaldson (still available) could see Seager as a fallback option.

Red Sox Add Depth

Rosenthal also reports that the Red Sox signed left-handed pitcher Martin Perez, pending physical. The deal is for one year at $6 million and a $6.25 million club option for 2021.

Perez, 28, went 10-7 with a 5.12 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, and 135 strikeouts in 165 1/3 innings with the Twins in 2019. He made 29 starts and three relief appearances. The Red Sox lost starter Rick Porcello in free agency to the Mets as well on Thursday.

Robert Murray of The Athletic reports that the Red Sox have given utilityman Jose Peraza a major league deal. The deal is worth close to $3 million with incentives.

Cardinals Looking for Starter

Jon Morosi of MLB.com reports that the Cardinals met with the agents for free agent left-handed starters Dallas Keuchel and Hyun-Jin Ryu. They’ve also been tied to free agent starter Madison Bumgarner and Red Sox starter David Price.

The Cardinals rotation currently consists of all right-handers in Jack Flaherty, Miles Mikolas, Dakota Hudson, Adam Wainwright, and Carlos Martinez.

Marlins Checking Out Corner Outfielders

The Marlins have interest in corner outfielder Corey Dickerson according to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com. Free agents Yasiel Puig and Kole Calhoun are of interest to the Marlins as well.

So far this offseason, the Marlins have added right-handed reliever Yimi Garcia, infielder Jonathan Villar, and first baseman Jesus Aguilar.

Dodgers Not Done With Pen Moves

The Dodgers already signed Blake Trenien to a one-year deal, yet it appears they are stilling looking to add bullpen help per Joel Sherman of the New York Post. Sherman notes they have real interest in former Yankee Dellin Betances.

Betances, 31, only pitched in one game in 2019, but has tons of upside with a career 2.36 ERA and 14.6 K/9. The Mets are another team that have shown interest in the right-hander, in addition to the Twins and Phillies.
