Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo exited Tuesday night’s game against the Marlins after being hit on the left hand with a pitch.
Steve Gelbs announced on SNY that the preliminary X-rays were negative. He will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.
Nimmo came up to bat in the top of the seventh inning with the bases loaded and two outs to face Marlins pitcher Wei-Yin Chen. After working a full count, Chen beamed him on the left hand. The call was challenged, but Nimmo was awarded first base.
Nimmo jogged down to first and was in noticeable pain as Mickey Callaway and a member of the Mets training staff came out to check on him. Nimmo would stay in to run for himself at first base, but would then be removed from the game prior to the start of the next half inning.
Brandon seemed to be in a substantial amount of pain as his hand was shaking on camera. Nimmo went 1-for-3 with a walk, HBP, run, and RBI before being replaced by Keon Broxton.
The left fielder will now be headed for X-Rays, stay tuned for further developments as we learn more in the next few hours on the status of this injury.
