Syracuse was flat with the bats and the pitching wasn’t sharp in their loss. Despite home runs from Chris Suero and Nick Lorusso, Binghamton couldn’t fight off the Fightin Phils’ comeback in the ninth inning; Brooklyn was ambushed, giving up two touchdowns in their loss, and Christian Rodriguez was hit hard in the St. Lucie defeat.

Syracuse managed only one extra-base hit on Friday, with Zach Short being the only player with more than one hit. Ryan Clifford struck out three times, tying his 2025 strikeout total in 129 fewer at-bats.

In a bullpen game, Jack Weisenburger continued his streak of having a poor start after a good start, allowing six runs in two innings. Dan Hammer didn’t fare any better, allowing three runs in an inning of work. Matt Seelinger was the only pitcher to not walk a hitter, but he did allow a run in two innings.

With most of the regulars sitting, the Cyclones only managed six hits. Trace Willhoite had a rare poor game, going 0-for-3 and striking out twice. Jamari Baylor walked twice, stole a base and made a great defensive play to get a runner at the plate.

Elian Peña got the day off but the remaining players just couldn’t make any impact with the bats. Bohan Adderley went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts and made an error playing center field.

Ethan Lanthier, who appears to be stretching out as a starter, had possibly his best long outing of the season, only allowing one hit despite three walks.
