The New York Mets announced on Friday afternoon that they’ve placed right-handed reliever Jeurys Familia on the 10-day disabled list with a sore right shoulder.
In the corresponding move, the Mets have recalled right-handed reliever Jacob Rhame from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Familia, 28, is 2-3 with 14 saves, a 2.48 ERA and 33 strikeouts compared to only nine walks this season in 29 innings. He will be a free agent following this season.
Rhame, 25, returns to the Mets after posting a 6.35 ERA in 11.1 innings earlier this season. The hard throwing righty has a 5.02 ERA in Triple-A this year though that comes with a solid 1.19 WHIP and 19 strikeouts in 14.1 innings.
