The New York Mets announced that LHP Buddy Baumann and utility player Phillip Evans have cleared waivers and will report to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Baumann, 30, has been ineffective as a Met. In three appearances he has pitched 3.0 innings, allowing eight earned runs (24.00 ERA) on seven hits and five walks, striking out four. With Jerry Blevins scuffling as of late, the search for a second lefty in the bullpen continues.

Evans, 25, followed up a strong spring training with a poor showing during the regular season to date. He has appeared in seven games, taking nine plate appearances. He’s hit .111/.111/.111 with just a single and five strikeouts. He’s hit .255/.323/.531 across 43 games in Triple-A this season.
