Just several days after Jaime Garcia booked a flight from Atlanta to Minnesota, the southpaw is on the move again, this time to New York.
Sunday morning, the Yankees announced they had acquired Garcia’s services in exchange for prospects RHP Zack Littell and LHP Dietrich Enns.
The deal was reportedly agreed to late Saturday night before the club confirmed the deal Sunday.
Garcia, 31, pitched just one game with the Twins after being acquired from the Braves just six days ago.
In total this season, Garcia owns a 5-7 record with a 4.29 ERA, 4.14 FIP and 6.9 K/9 in 19 starts.
The long-time St. Louis Cardinal will only cost the Yankees $187 thousand the rest of the season as the Twins will absorb his contract down to the pro-rated league minimum.
At the time of the trade, Littell pulled in as MLB Pipeline‘s No. 22 prospect in the Yankees system. Enns was not rated.
In addition to Garcia, the Yankees are reportedly still very much interested in acquiring Sonny Gray.
