Mets general manager Sandy Alderson will not attend the GM Meetings in Florida due to a previously scheduled medical procedure, the team announced on Monday.
Assistant GM John Ricco said that he will attend the Meetings in Sandy’s place along with Paul DePodesta and J.P. Ricciardi.
“We can certainly do whatever we need to do.” Ricco told reporters.
“I’ll be in communication with him. If anything starts moving, we do most of our work over the phone and remotely anyway. We don’t have to be in the same room. We can so whatever we need to do.”
According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, the procedure Alderson is undergoing is not related to his recent collapse during last week’s press conference to announce Terry Collins’ new contract.
However, the team declined to elaborate on the nature of the procedure.
