Feinsand: Mets Have Discussed Corey Kluber Trade with Indians

After completing the trade to bring closer Edwin Diaz and second baseman Robinson Cano aboard, Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen still has some big plans in mind.

Per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, Van Wagenen has spoken to the Cleveland Indians about trading for ace Corey Kluber. Kluber was the 2014 and 2017 American League CY Young winner, and was a finalist in both 2016 and 2018.

Since 2014, Kluber has posted a 2.85 ERA (152 ERA+) over 1091.1 innings with 10.1 K/9 and 1.8 BB/9. In other words, he is one of the best in the game.

The Indians would likely look to shed Kluber’s salary while also adding a young outfielder amongst other assets.

Van Wagenen appears to be very serious in his pursuit of making the Mets a legit contender in 2019. This offseason should be entertaining at the very least. Oh and by the way, the winter meetings have not even begun yet.
