According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, former New York Mets general manager Omar Minaya will be the top adviser to new GM Brodie Van Vagenen.
Puma also notes that assistant GM John Ricco and special assistant J.P. Ricciardi have been told they are wanted back if they decided to stay.
The Mets introduced Van Wagenen as their new GM on Tuesday and he said that he believes he has full autonomy to make decisions on the staff and players.
Minaya returned to the Mets in December of 2017 as a special assistant to the GM where his focus was expected to be on scouting and player development. Minaya was previously the Mets GM from 2004 to October of 2010 when he was fired.
