Plawecki Placed on Paternity Leave, Rhame Activated

Heading into Friday night’s series opener in San Francisco, the New York Mets announced a couple of roster moves.

Catcher Kevin Plawecki was placed on paternity leave, which had been expected, and the Mets activated right-handed reliever Jacob Rhame as the corresponding roster move.

Plawecki, 27, is hitting .235/.336/.396 in 60 games this season. He missed nearly two months (April 11 to May 28) with a broken bone in his hand after being hit by a pitch.

Rhame, 25, has had a mostly disappointing campaign after showing a ton of promise in spring training.

In 23.1 innings pitched this season (22 appearances), the right-hander has a 7.71 earned-run average with a 6.71 FIP, and a 48 ERA+.
