Chris Flexen Starting On Sunday For Mets

The New York Mets announced on Friday afternoon that right-hander Chris Flexen would get the start on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Flexen, currently on the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s roster, has allowed four earned runs in 3.1 innings for the Mets this season. That follows a 7.88 ERA he posted last year over 48 big league innings.

In Triple-A this year he has a 4.84 ERA and 1.73 WHIP in 67 innings spanning 13 starts and a relief appearance.

Zack Wheeler will start Game 1 of the Mets doubleheader on Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies and will be followed by fellow righty Corey Oswalt in Game 2.

The Mets play 11 games in 10 days starting on Friday night against the Rays at Citi Field.
