Morning Briefing: DeGrom Looks to Salvage Braves Series With Split

Good morning Mets fans, last night the Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves 8-2 on Tuesday night at SunTrust Park.

The Mets look to avoid the sweep of the two-game series this afternoon as Jacob deGrom takes the mound against Mike Soroka and the Braves at 12:10 p.m. at SunTrust Park.

Last night, Mickey Callaway was ejected from the game for the first time in the managerial career.

According to Mets general manager Sandy Alderson, right-hander Noah Syndergaard is in New York and will receive a second opinion on his strained right index finger.

Alderson added prospects 1B Peter Alonso and UTL Jeff McNeil are on the team’s radar and a promotion to Triple-A Las Vegas could happen soon.

The Mets feel that they don’t have someone to replace Jose Reyes, and in order to unload him, they would need to find someone.

Alderson acknowledged the team’s recent struggles and said he takes full responsibility for where they are at.
