Cecchini, Guillorme Among Several Players Cut From Big League Camp

Ed Delany, MMO

The Mets announced Tuesday that they have optioned infielders Gavin Cecchini and Luis Guillorme to minor league camp.

Additionally, they have also re-assigned Matt den Dekker, Jose Lobaton, Drew Smith, A.J. Griffin, Corey Taylor, Matt Purke, P.J. Conlon and Ty Kelly to minor league camp.

Cecchini and Guillorme both had impressive springs, with the latter going 11-for-36 (.306 average, .447/ on-base percentage). With the two plus Kelly being cut, it appears as though Phillip Evans will have an inside track on breaking camp with the big league team.

It also means that with Purke and Conlon cut, the team will only go with Jerry Blevins as their lone lefty in the bullpen.
