Morning Briefing: Mets Will Use Day Off to Help Hurricane Victims

The Mets are off tonight and will play a double header on Saturday due to Hurricane Harvey.

Yesterday, nothing went right for the Mets. Jacob deGrom was shaky and the Mets offense found no success against Robert Stephenson. Brandon Nimmo got a hit and RBI in the loss. His OBP is up to .368 and wRC+ is at an even 100.

The big news late last night was Justin Verlander getting traded to the Houston Astros for three prospects.

The Mets will be in Houston today volunteering and helping those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Texan and former Met, Jay Bruce, is also helping out those affected by Harvey. Bruce and the Cleveland Indians have raised nearly 100 thousand dollars from fan contributions. Bruce will be matching 100 thousand of his own money.
