Morning Briefing: The Comeback Kids

Good morning, Mets fans!

New York will be going for its fifth win in a row and a sweep against the Oakland Athletics as Rafael Montero toes the rubber and will face Daniel Gossett. The game will be aired on WPIX at 1:10 p.m.

Last night, the Mets won in a thriller. They trailed 5-0 going into the sixth inning as Zack Wheeler allowed five run in five innings of work.

However, in the sixth the Mets put up a four-spot fueled by Wilmer Flores, Jay Bruce and company. The Mets tied the game in the eighth on a pinch-hit RBI single from Lucas Duda.

Flores hit a walk-off home run in the ninth inning against Simon Castro to give the Mets a 6-5 victory. Hansel Robles, believe it or not, recorded his sixth victory of the season.

The Dodgers are reportedly interested in acquiring Mets reliever Addison Reed.

Neil Walker began his rehab assignment last night at Las Vegas and went 1-for-3. He is slated to return early next week.

Asdrubal Cabrera started his first game at third base since 2007.

According to Mark Feinsand of, the Yankees remain interested in Lucas Duda despite the recent acquisition of Todd Frazier.
