The Mets look to win their series against the Phillies tonight with Dillon Gee (4-4, 3.73) taking on Cole Hamels (6-6, 2.42) at 7:05 PM.

In his last start, Gee received a no-decision in a 4-3 defeat to the San Francisco Giants on August 4 at Citi Field. He pitched 5.2 innings, allowing two runs and five hits while striking out six.

After last night’s game, the Mets designated outfielder Chris Young for assignment and recalled outfielder Matt den Dekker from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League. Den Dekker will wear #6 and will be available for tonight’s game.

Daniel Murphy leads the National League with 144 hits. He is also tied for third in the NL with 32 doubles and eighth with a .306 batting average. He has hit in 16 of his last 19 games, going 31-80 (.388) with nine doubles, two home runs and 13 RBI over that span.

Starting Lineup

    1. Curtis Granderson – RF
    2. Daniel Murphy – 2B
    3. David Wright – 3B
    4. Eric Campbell – LF
    5. Lucas Duda – 1B
    6. Travis d’Arnaud – C
    7. Juan Lagares – CF
    8. Wilmer Flores – SS
    9. Dillon Gee – RHP

The Mets needed a win after dropping the series in Washington and they got that last night behind the arm of Bartolo Colon and an inning where the Mets were able to string some hits together and get 4 runs. Also important news heading into tonight, Chris Young was finally DFA’d making room for den Dekker. Tonight Dillon Gee takes the mound to keep the momentum going against Cole Hamels.
