Fernando Tatis Is A Potential Trade Target?
The Texas Rangers will most likely be without the services of third baseman Michael Young for as long as two to three weeks due to a strained left hamstring. Additionally, they may have lost outfielder Josh Hamilton for an undetermined amount of time due to a pinched nerve in his back. Evan Grant of Dallas Sports speculates that the Texas Rangers may look to acquire a third baseman even though he would not be eligible for [...]

The Next Mets Manager
I am pretty negative when it comes to Jerry Manuel and his managing of the New York Mets. On one side, I think he is a great guy. He treats the media well, and for the most part he has handled this disaster of a season very well. I often find myself shaking my head at the moves he made at the end of last season, and earlier this year (you know, when we actually [...]

Thole and Misch Fuel Mets 8-3 Win Over Rockies
Even after an impressive 8-3 win over the Rockies, don’t expect me to gloat as much over a win or agonize as much over a loss as I once did throughout the season. Wins and losses don’t mean as much anymore given the Mets current circumstances. Instead, I look for outward signs of hope for next season because the way I see it, the Mets are officially in 2010 mode. There were certainly a couple of [...]

Fixing The Mets: Just Blow It All Up
Jayson Stark of ESPN had a feature yesterday and may have some of you feeling a little uncomfortable as he attempts to dissect the Mets season and offer a sneak peak into the future, which he believes is quite bleak. Their season hasn’t just been a disappointment. It’s been a Freddy Krueger movie. But at least there’s one good thing those fast-sinking New York Mets can say about their 2009 horror show: It’s almost over. [...]

Is Dan Warthen Worth It?
Dan Warthen was named the pitching coach of the Mets last season on June 17 after the team handed out its now-infamous 3 AM pinkslips to manager Willie Randolph, pitching coach Rick Peterson and first base coach Tom Nieto in Anaheim during the West Coast version of the Midnight Massacre. Prior to his promotion to the major league club, Warthen served the same function for the New Orleans Zephyrs, the then-Triple A affiliate of the [...]

Beltran is Audtioning for Indianapolis
Last night Carlos Beltran returned from a “bone bruise,” on his knee in a rehab start for the Brooklyn Cyclones. I keep hearing, and reading people asking why he is even trying right now. My opinion, he is auditioning to prove he is healthy enough to garner attention on the trading market this winter in Indianapolis (site of the Winter Meetings). Here’s the thing, at 32 years old, Beltran is still in my opinion the [...]

Jerry Koosman Sentenced To Six Months For Tax Evasion
According to an Reuters report, a federal judge on Thursday sentenced former major league pitcher Jerry Koosman to six months in prison for not paying his taxes. Prosecutors say Koosman, a former All-Star who helped the New York Mets win the 1969 World Series, didn’t pay federal income taxes for 2002, 2003 and 2004. He pleaded guilty in May to willfully failing to file taxes for 2002, a misdemeanor, in a deal with prosecutors. U.S. District [...]
