MMO Exclusive Interview: Mets Prospect Joe Bonfe
I was able to do a Q&A with NY Mets minor league prospect Joe Bonfe the other day. Entering his 4th season with the Mets, the 24-year-old Bonfe looks to shed the label of super-utility guy, and take on the role of starting player for an entire season. Joe did a great job in the interview and his questions are very interesting. Keep reading to find out how Joe continues to improve his game, and [...]

MMO Exclusive Interview: Mets Minor League LHP Zach Dotson
I caught up to NY Mets left-handed pitching prospect, Zach Dotson the other day. I asked him how his health is, and is he ready to pitch when spring training begins next month. We discussed the health of his shoulder, his suspension last year, his pitching repertoire, and his expectations for 2012. After barely pitching over the last two seasons since being drafted, Dotson remains somewhat of a mystery to Mets fans. Perhaps in this [...]

Sickels Ranks Mets Farm System 15th
For the first time ever, John Sickels of Minor League Ball has released a formal ranking of the 30 minor league systems. He put the Mets square in the middle as the 15th best system saying this: 15) New York Mets: Solid depth in pitching, especially at the top with Matt Harvey, Zack Wheeler, and Jeurys Familia. It is hard to argue the Mets should be any higher than this looking at the teams ahead. Bryce Harper alone has [...]

Cory Mazzoni Is A 2012 Breakout Prospect
Kevin Goldstein of BP and ESPN.com, listed 22-year-old Mets pitching prospect Cory Mazzoni among his 10 breakout prospects for 2012. Goldstein writes: “Those numbers came in short stints after a heavy college workload, and he’ll return to starting in 2012, equipped with a fastball and slider that both rate as above average. His early success has some tempted to see if he could move quickly as a reliever, but for now, that’s a backup plan.” [...]

MMO Exclusive Interview: Mets Minor League Outfielder Sean Ratliff
I caught up with NY Mets minor league outfield prospect, Sean Ratliff the other day, and he was nice enough to answer some questions for our readers at MMO. Sean had his entire 2011 season wiped out before it even began, when while standing in the on-deck circle towards the end of spring training, a foul shot off the bat of Buffalo third-baseman Zach Lutz struck Ratliff directly in the right eye. This came only [...]

2012 MLB Draft: Trey Williams, 3B, Valencia HS
With the hot stove season nearing its end, I’ll be chipping in a lot less on Mets news, and focus more on the upcoming First Year Player Draft in June, as I did last year. I’m currently working on my own “Top 15 Draft Prospects” list and a “Five Players To Watch” piece for the Mets top selections in 2012. Both will be ready in early February. I’m not going to do any mock drafts [...]
