4/10 Minor League Report! Carlos Guzman!

Buffalo 0, Pawtucket 9 Dillon Gee was absolutely on cruise control through 4, having allowed just 2 hits, striking out 5, but the roof caved in on him during the 5th inning, he allowed 4 hits, 2 walks and 3 runs in the inning, not even finishing it. Jon Switzer came in and was highly ineffective, allowing 5 runs in the 6th inning, only 1 was earned, due to a Jose Coronado error. Elmer Dessens [...]

What If These Things Happened?

Hypothetically speaking… let’s just imagine for a second that the players we hear on the HotStove are interested in the Mets. Now, let’s also imagine that Omar could sign most of them, be somewhat reasonable and not press “Force Trade” from a baseball video game like signing EVERYONE (we’re not the Yankees). Anyway, the players we hear in the news are: Derek Lowe, Oliver Perez, Manny Ramirez, Orlando Hudson, Randy Wolf, Jon Garland, and Ben [...]

Mets Offer Lowe A 3-Year Deal

According to Jack Curry of the New York Times, the Mets have offered Derek Lowe a three-year deal worth about $36 million. “The Mets have offered the free-agent pitcher Derek Lowe a three-year contract for about $36 million, according to people who have been briefed on the discussions.” Scott Boras did not comment specifically on the offer, but rather said, “Obviously, we’ve taken offers from a number of teams.” Boras said he was still in the [...]

Teixeira May Get A Gigantic Contract Next Season

If you think the Barry Zito, C.C. Sabathia, or Johan Santana signing were huge, get a hold of this: According to a source from a team who is involved in negotiations, the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles “are coming in hot” on Teixeira, with the Nationals apparently willing to offer the slugger a 10-year deal for more than $20 million a year and the Orioles willing to go nine years for at least $20 million [...]

The Playoff Situations

The Mets can still make the playoffs, either by winning the division or by winning the Wild Card. Sure it won’t be easy, but here’s how the Mets could be playing baseball in October. Mets WIN NL East If Mets win next two games and Phillies lose next two games and Brewers lose two. (Tiebreaker goes to Mets) Mets WIN NL Wild Card If Mets go 1-1, Phillies win one game, and Brewers go 0-2. [...]

Shave Zone = Mets Cancer

I’m not sure if you noticed, but I have. Where is Giuseppe Franco? As much as that commercial is annoying, I think he’s the one that has the winning magic for us. Not Jerry Manuel, not Mr. Met, not Ramon Castro. It’s Giuseppe Franco. His “Procede” commercials clogged SNY for about 90 percent of the broadcast’s commercial spot. His signature phrase, “I don’t even know anything about it” was in our heads as we went [...]

UPDATE: It’s Been Seven Years

As I wake up on a cloudy, Thursday morning, I remember what happened seven years ago. That faithful event that changed America forever. I lost an uncle and I’m sure some of you lost someone or knew who lost someone. I can’t help but think about it and try and work my way around it today. But, that’s not what this blog is about. The first that pops in to my mind about sports during [...]
