Pedro Martinez Bumped To Monday, Jon Niese Gets The Start
The Mets have reshuffled the rotation and instead of Pedro Martinez pitching in the second game of the doubleheader, it will be rookie Jon Niese. Pedro will instead pitch the first game of the nationals series which begins on Monday. Oliver Perez will pitch tomorrow’s series finale as scheduled. Of course, our ace Johan Santana will pitch the first game of today’s doubleheader. (Go Johan!) According to a report in the Journal News, The team’s [...]

Ramon Castro Expected To Come Off DL Today
Ramon Castro, who has been on the disabled list with a strained right quadriceps, is expected to come off the disabled list for tonight’s game. Castro has been on the DL since Aug. 27. In 43 games, Castro is batting .242 with seven homeruns and 24 RBI’s. He does have a penchant for being a clutch hitter and nice right handed bat off the bench. That being said, it always seems like he is hurt, and [...]

The Continuing Saga Of Billy The Kid
In an exclusive interview with Mike Puma of the NY Post, Billy Wagner talks about the past, the present and the future. A few of his more interesting quotes were… About Playing Next Season – “I’ve played my last day as a Met, that’s the way it goes.” About This Season - ”To me, it’s more about this year, because I really think this team has a chance to win the World Series.” His Future – [...]

A Phillies Fan Lament
Here’s an interesting article from a Phillies fan who apparently is not afraid to hide the fact he is tired of chasing the Mets. The following is just a small part of the full article, so I encourage you to read the rest at The 700 Level. I’m tired of this. I’m tired of having to come up with some silver lining for the next two and a half weeks. I’m tired of waking up and seeing [...]

UPDATE: It’s Been Seven Years
As I wake up on a cloudy, Thursday morning, I remember what happened seven years ago. That faithful event that changed America forever. I lost an uncle and I’m sure some of you lost someone or knew who lost someone. I can’t help but think about it and try and work my way around it today. But, that’s not what this blog is about. The first that pops in to my mind about sports during [...]

The New Prince Of Thieves
Last night, while the Mets were messing around with your sanity, Jose Reyes took off for second base in the third inning and swiped his 48th base of the season. It was also his 282nd steal as a New York Met passing Mookie Wilson on the All Time Mets stolen base list. Jose Reyes is now the Mets all-time steals leader. He actually went on to steal his 283rd base moments after his record breaking [...]

Leave Aaron Heilman In The Doghouse
Yesterday, Matt Cerrone over at MetsBlog asked “Where is Aaron Heilman?” My answer is… Who cares! Leave him in the damn doghouse where he belongs! Last night, Aaron Heilman made his first appearance in almost a week. He immediately walked the first batter he faced, bringing the tying run to the plate. One batter later he grooved a pitch to Christian Guzman who launched it into the night sky to tie the game. Aaron Heilman has [...]

Luis Ayala Is Doing The Job As Mets Closer
With the possibility of Mets closer Billy Wagner being done for the season, the team finds itself at a critical junction as they continue their improbable pennant race. The loss of Billy Wagner is a major setback to say the least, but thanks to Luis Ayala, the sting of Wagner’s loss won’t be as devastating as some may believe. Luis Ayala may not have been that well received by Mets fans after he was acquired [...]
