The New York Mets have reclaimed OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels, according to ESPN New York’s Adam Rubin.

To make room for Nieuwenhuis on the 40 man roster, reliever Jerry Blevins was transferred to the 60 day disabled list.

Nieuwenhuis was traded by the Mets to the Angels on May 27 in return for cash considerations. He batted .136 with no home runs and one RBI in 10 games for Los Angeles.

The 27-year old outfielder slashed at .079/.125/.132 in 38 at-bats this season for the Mets before they designated him for assignment.
